AI coding tools that work with bbasata
Three capabilities per tool — MCP (consumes the bbasata MCP server), Agent export (bbasata writes native agent files) and Orchestration (the in-tool subagent primitive verified through our harness). The table lists the promoted tools with MCP + agent export + verified in-tool orchestration. Other MCP clients work via the MCP server. For third-party tools without a bbasata exporter, use the bbasata-universal tutorial to port agents manually from the neutral interchange snapshot (.bbasata/agents/*.json).
| Tool | Agent format | MCP | Agent export | Orchestration | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
opencode opencode | .opencode/agents/*.mdWhy verified?Markdown subagents with YAML frontmatter; permissions map to the documented permission keys. | Yes | Yes | Task | Official source |
Kilo Kilo Code | .kilo/agents/*.mdWhy verified?Markdown subagents, opencode-compatible permission model. | Yes | Yes | Task | Official source |
Claude Code Anthropic | .claude/agents/*.mdWhy verified?Markdown subagents; tool names are case-sensitive (Bash, Edit, Read…). The same files are natively imported by Devin CLI. | Yes | Yes | Agent (subagent_type) | Official source |
Antigravity CLI (agy) Google | .agents/agents/*.mdWhy verified?Markdown subagents (subagent: true, tools allowlist). Official successor of Gemini CLI for consumers. | Yes | Yes | invoke_subagent | Official source |
Antigravity IDE Google | .agents/agents/*.md (shared with Antigravity CLI)Why verified?VS Code-compatible editor; MCP Store + mcp_config.json. Custom subagents (.md) confirmed — same format and exporter as agy. | Yes | Yes | invoke_subagent | Official source |
Devin CLI Cognition | .devin/agents/*.mdWhy verified?Subagent profiles with allowed-tools. Also imports Claude Code agent files natively. | Yes | Yes | run_subagent | Official source |
Devin Desktop Cognition | .devin/agents/*.md (also .agents/agents/*.md, ~/.config/devin/agents/)Why verified?Devin Desktop agent supports file-based subagents + MCP — covered by the existing devin exporter. | Yes | Yes | run_subagent | Official source |
goose AAIF (Linux Foundation) | .goose/recipes/*.yamlWhy verified?Recipe-based subagents (YAML); permissions expressed as instructions. | Yes | Yes | delegate | Official source |
Porting to a tool without an exporter?
Use the bbasata-universal interchange snapshot as the migration source and translate the prompt + permissions into the tool's native agent format.
Read the porting tutorialHow verdicts are made
Every row cites the official documentation — no tool is assumed from memory. A file format alone never proves orchestration: the Orchestration column shows the exact in-tool primitive only when its invocation was verified through the bbasata harness; otherwise it reads No. Full evidence available on request.
Policy: this matrix is evidence-based — it lists the tools that pass the agents-and-MCP criterion against their official docs, regardless of marketing focus. Only the promoted families show Yes on all three capabilities (MCP + Agent export + Orchestration): opencode (Task), Kilo (Task), Claude Code (Agent subagent_type), Antigravity (invoke_subagent), Devin (run_subagent) and goose (delegate).
Handoff-only: work waits in the shared queue until a member picks it up explicitly from their tool.
